Fellow Listers,

Registration for the Silverton 1000 and the link to the new website are almost done. We’re waiting on final permits and still have some details to work out and hopefully, we’ll have registration open by the first of March.
For registration, we’ll be using Ultra Sign-Up. Here’s some general information:

  • There will be a 100, 500 and 1000 mile category
  • Early registration will probably be $175 for the 100, $275 for the 500 and $375 for the 1000 ($25 extra, for late registration
  • The setup and amenities will be very similar to the way we have run Across The Years (www.acrosstheyears.com) The start finish area will actually be under a huge tent and the running course will run right though the tent which will double as an aid station area. This tent will also be used as a timing station that will instantly display your splits and overall mileage on a large screen.
  • The aid stations for the 100 miler will be typical of what is provided at other 100 mile events. The 500 and 1000 mile entrants will have water, microwaves, cooking apparatices and other food prep equipment at their disposal, but will be expected to have a crew that can cater to their specific needs. If for some reason, a runner cannot acquire a crew and needs assistance, we will provide what they need (within reason) on an actual cost basis. The cost of this will be above and beyond what the entrant pays when registering.
  • Unlike ATY though, this course will NOT be flat. There will be about 250 feet of climb per mile in the 500 and 1000 mile events and even more for the 100 mile event. Permits will dictate the actual course and elevation gain/loss.
  • There will be some very nice awards for all of the events and some prize money for the first person to finish the 1000 mile challenge. In the 500 and 1000 mile events, you will have to run at least one mile every hour or you will be disqualified. You will not have to run one mile in every hour for the 100 mile event but there will be cut-offs.
  • The race location will be at the foot of Kendall Mountain in Silverton, Colorado, at the Kendall Mountain Lodge
  • The start date is set for September 4th This event will not be for the faint of heart. It will be an extremely challenging and difficult event. Weather will positively be an issue, especially for the 500 & 1000 milers. The elevation in Silverton is 9318 feet and with that, we can guarantee that at some point, it will rain, it will be cold and it could even snow.
  • All proceeds will go to the Silverton School Sports Fund
  • Jamil Coury and myself will be the RD’s
  • The event will be chip timed

Thanks so much for the interest,
