Sharon Gayter 7 Day Treadmill Record Attempt

Sharon Gayter has been running on a treadmill since Wednesday 14 December: 11.00am at the Olympia Building, Victoria Road in Teesside University where she works. Latest post on her Fb indicates she has passed 350 miles (563.27 km).

Sharon is making an attempt at the world record for 7 days on a treadmill which, according to Guinness World Records,  is held by Lee Chamberlain who ran 753.24km (468.04 miles) in July 2009.

Mimi Anderson is the current female record holder who ran 650km (403.81 miles).

Sharon has set a goal of 1010km – having run 750km in six days in Athens in April this year.

The record attempt is helping to raise money and awareness for two charities – Leukemia and Lymphoma Research to support a colleague Michael Wren who lost his daughter Charlotte to Leukemia and Zoe’s Place, a hospice for babies in Middlesbrough.
