Forty-four years ago today (April 13), a young Sri Chinmoy arrived on U.S. soil. He would go on to found more ultramarathon events than possibly any other individual in history. Certainly Sri Chinmoy inspired more multi-day ultras than anyone. He will be with us all in spirit at the big New York Self-Transcendence 6 and 10 day events, which commence April 23 in historic Flushing Meadows. Today on an easy10 mile jog around my neighborhood I kept seeing Sri Chinmoy’s smiling face amongst the sidewalk and parking lot pedestrians. (more…)

North Face have sent this information some time ago about packs. Since my recent trip to Colombia and running longer distances away from clean water supplies, I have become more interested in these items. I have no financial interest in North Face or any other such enterprise but I am interested in what people have to say about their favourite packs.

We would like to announce you some news from our club. An IAU rules road ultra 24h even will take place in the outskirts of Madrid on dates 10&11th May 2008. Race is likely to be run along a 1km to 1m lap

Quintessential Alaska Adventure Running Series #5

From the website:

“The purpose of this adventure series is to share in some classic Alaska backcountry explorations. The events are non-competitive and consist of about equal measures of running, power walking, and scrambling or bushwhacking. Travel is mainly off trail through extremely rugged backcountry. On each of the 6 days there is 5,000 to 15,000 feet of climbing and descent (that is, up to 30,000 feet of altitude change per day).”
