napoleon_ultra_2013Announcing Napoleon Ultra 2013…

In December 2012, the bicentennial of Napoleon’s abortive Russian campaign, a group of nine runners from five different countries successfully completed the 230-mile Texas edition of the Napoleon Ultra, starting in the tiny town of Moscow, Texas and finishing seven days later under a replica Eiffel Tower in Paris, Texas.

In November 2013, we will race from Moscow to Paris again – but this time 112 miles (181km) in the state of Tennessee.

We will meet in Memphis, home of Elvis Presley’s Graceland and the famous Beale Street blues, on Friday November 15. The next morning we make our way 40 miles east to the start in Moscow, Tennessee and run three daily stages of 35, 40 and 37 miles (56km, 65km and 60km), before finishing under another replica Eiffel Tower, this time in Paris, Tennessee on Monday November 18.

The race will be along rolling country roads through the towns of Somerville, Brownsville, Humboldt, and Milan. We will stay in motels each night close to the finish of each stage.
A race fee of $300 will cover aid station snacks and drinks, T-shirt, results, finisher award, daily luggage transport, roadbook and beer. Runners will be responsible for getting themselves to the start in Moscow and from the finish in Paris, plus the costs of their overnight accommodations and evening meals. There will be no official daily cut-off time, but it is expected that runners can comfortably run a marathon in under 6 hours.

We had a truly outstanding group of participants in the 2012 edition, and a remarkable 100% success rate. If you are interested in taking part in Napoleon Ultra 2013, please email me at [email protected]. The race will be limited to 20 runners.
