Multiday News – August 2009

Lots of things happening while I was in the Gothenburg 6 day race which was won by Lars Christofferesen from Denmark with 854 km and Australian Sarah Barnett won the womens 6 day with 713 km. News of that event is covered in a a previous post, Gothenburg Ultra Festival.

The Skövde Ultrafestival 48/24/12/6/1 took place on August 28th and the results can be found at:

The Trans-Rockies Run which took place from Buena Vista to Beaver Creek in Colorado was won by Robert Krar and Michael Smith and the women’s winners were Caitlin Smith and Devon Crosby-Helms all from the USA.

In the UK, the Eagle Isle Ultra took place on the  Isle of Mull off the west coast of Scotland. A three day 120km trek through the Mull wilderness finished with Paul Murgatroyd as men’s winner and Jo Kilkenny as the only female finisher. Results are available at Eagleisleultra.com

Ambition Events “Run Across The World Series” remains an enigma to me. The website provides no details of results or any reference to the recent races like RAW Britain or this weeks RAW Arctic Greenland. If anyone has any news on these events or can point me to a link I would be grateful.

The 5th GORE-TEX® Transalpine-Run runs from September 5th to 12th 2009. A older sister to the Transrockies Run, the Transalpine was created in 2005 and is an 8 day stage race passing through 4 countries and this year starting in Oberstdorf (GER) and finishing in Latsch in the South Tyrol in Italy. Michael Fischer and Roland Osele lead the race. Martina Pfeifhofer and Elisabeth Egarter are leading the womens team.
