Three years ago runner Robert Garside claimed to have run around the world. David Blakie, who had been following Garside’s progress after errors and inconsistencies appeared on Garside’s website, was convinced that Garside had not in fact run around the world and had appeared to miss out sections of the route.
Also some sections of the run would have required world class performance effort in the times he has said he covered the distance, something Garside has not been able to demonstrate in front of reliable witnesses.
Despite these issues Guinness have given Garside the record for being the first man to run around the world.
