    New Danish 100 Mile Race

    A new 100 mile race in Denmark will take place on 6 – 7 July 2007. It looks like the organisers were inspired by World Runner, Jesper Olsen who will be running the race.

    Chanakhya’s new sound bite # 1 - Pioneer Memorial 2007

    It’s Memorial Day weekend here in the US. So here in New York there is the New York Pioneer Memorial 100 miler, which is a 100 mile race over 3 days in 3 different locations. I missed the first day yesterday but happened to make it to the second race today. When I arrived, sitting there on a park bench calmly taking notes was Ted Corbitt and next to him Richie Innamorato.     The McNaughton Park Trail Runs 2007 - Reports

    Still waiting for the results to be posted on the site. However Julie Berg and Margaret Westlake and Sherpa John Lacroix have posted accounts of their experiences. Margaret’s is posted below as I can’t see it on her site.. Julie Berg won the womens 100 mile event. Karl Meltzer is said to have set a new course record for the 100. (more…)

    The McNaughton Park Trail Runs 2007

    The inaugural The McNaughton Park 150 mile Trail Run which is added to the 100 mile race and the 50 mile event which first took place in 2001 with a 30 mile race, is the only such trail race in the US at this time. (more…)

    Spring is coming!!!! I’m looking out my window right now and although the snow is still deep, it feels like we’ve turned the corner on winter. Only 3.5 months until the Yukon Gold Ultra starts.     Subject: Nutrition/Fueling at the End of a 100 miler

    All this talk about how many calories per hour we can/should take in during a 100 miler has me pondering a quote I saw from Anton Krupicka in the October 2006 Ultrarunning magazine. In response to his nutrition plan for Leadville, he mentioned toward the end of this section that, “The last two hours in from Mayqueen I basically stopped eating and drinking. I was afraid of my stomach becoming upset again, plus, especially the last hour or so, I became very focused on just running fast and getting to the finish. Not eating at that stage didn’t seem to affect me too adversely.” (more…)
