Nearly Half the Expedition Field Drops to the Adventure Category After Monday’s 60-k Course

The second day of The 2008 Coastal Challenge sent runners plunging into waist-deep river crossings and across feet-tangling grasslands before ascending into the hills amidst fierce winds. While the Adventure category racers and those in the Expedition group who chose to stop at the cutoff point (or failed to reach it in seven hours) received a ride to the finish line in Tierras Morenas, the 20 remaining Expedition racers rambled into town filled with dust and exhaustion.
