    At the end of April 2008, world-class endurance athletes and long-time friends Lisa Smith-Batchen and Louise Cooper will begin a record-breaking attempt to run across the United States.

    They will run from California to New York to fundraise for the creation of a network of Dreamchasers programs, including a school to aid and assist women and children in need. Although Religious Teachers Fillippini (RTF) is a Catholic organization, their mission of “go and teach”, helping and caring, encompassses all people, regardless of religion.

    On March 22, 2008, World Water Day, ultra-extreme athletes Charlie Engle and Marshall Ulrich will begin Run America in Seattle, WA. Their goal is to run 3,200 across America fast enough to break the world record. That means Charlie and Marshall will have to run an average of at least 68 miles each and every day, for 47 days, ending in Washington D.C. on or before May 7, 2008. (more…)

    Sue Johnston sets a new speed trek time on the John Muir Trail. Sue writes”3 days, 20 hours is my time from Whitney Portal to Happy Isle in Yosemite Valley. My time from the summit of Whitney, i.e. the official southern terminus of the JMT, was 3 days, 15 hours, 32 minutes.”

    Catra Corbett on the PCT

    Catra is making an attempt on the PCT record which is 78 days for men and 91 for women. In with a shot at both, Catra started the journey with a Frenchman Julien, on May 24th, who Catra affectionately calls “SB” and who unfortunately sustained an injury after only a few days and who was forced to abandon the adventure.     Sharon Gayter sets new Lands End to John ‘O’Groats Record

    Sharon Gayter - Britains premier female multiday runner breaks LEJOG record

    After overcoming pain, injury, exhaustion, adverse weather and 837 miles after leaving Lands End in Cornwall, England, Sharon Gayter reached John ‘O’Groats in Northern Scotland to establish a new record by some 17.5 hours beating the old record set by Sandra Brown who finished the distance 13 days, 10 hours 1 minute in 1995.

    Sharon finished Friday evening, September 15th around 10:30 and Mike Amos of the Northern Echo interviewed Sharon as she completed her amazing journey last night.
