Hinson Lake 24-Hour Classic
September 29-30, 2007
-As seen through the eyes of El Brad
Short version:
El Brad (EB) won with 115.52 miles.
Longer verison:
It was a dark and stormy night…well, ok, it wasn’t anything like that. It was actually a very nice day – for sitting on the beach (or by the lake fishing in the shade, I suppose for running too, whatever.)
I’ll begin by saying I am a really big fan of the Mangum Track Club. I have been ever since Mr. Long invited me down for a shirt run waaaaay back in 2002 on one of the Crowder’s sadistic loops. I can’t think of any members that I don’t like, a lot, but there is a core group that I’ve known for a while that I really enjoy being around. Fortunately for me, they don’t seem to mind me too much either, so it works out well. RD Tom (or RDT for the rest of the story – sounds like Paul Harvey, no?) falls into this elite category. (more…)
Madhupran Wolfgang Schwerk powered his way to 420 km (260 miles) by the end of Day 2 in the Loutraki 7 Day Race in Athens, Greece. (more…)

From the YUA site:
20:15 (local time) Andy Heading wins a shortened 460 mile race
With temperatures expected to go down to - 61 tomorrow and “warmer” temperatures only arriving by Sunday it was decided to stop the race. We also took into consideration the progress Tom, Pearse, Klaus and Joachim have made in the last 24 hours. They managed to do roughly 17 miles in that period of time.

With the marathon and the 100 mile race finished, interest lies now with the 300 and 460 mile races.
Italians Stefano Miglietti and Enrico Ghidoni have been running together since the start and had a 16 hour lead over Dave Berridge from England on leaving Braeburn.
In the 460 mile race, Another Englishman, Andy Heading, had an 6 hour lead over Joachim Rintsch who is also 2 hours clear of Tom Wolter-Roessler from Germany. Allen Pearse and Klaus Schweinberger, the other runners left Braeburn together.
