    Marathon Des Sables 2007

    Marathon Des Sables Probably the most famous multiday race in the world and certainly the largest field in a multiday race, the 22nd Marathon des Sables is underway with 821 runners signed up according to the website including the Akhdars and the Ahansals.

    Rock and Ice Ultras - Diamond 300 2007 - Updates

    This inaugural series of races finishes today, apparently shorter at 250km than the planned 300km event. The 300km event is a self supported 6 day race through the Northern Canadian wilderness in the Great Slave Lake area. (more…)

    6633 Ultra - Updates

    Race director Martin Like is posting daily reports on the site and writes that at the 116 mile point, of the 9 original runners who began the race only 4 remain. Extreme cold and ferocious winds have made this a very difficult event.

    Yukon Arctic Ultra 2007 - Andy Heading Wins

    From the YUA site:

    20:15 (local time) Andy Heading wins a shortened 460 mile race

    With temperatures expected to go down to - 61 tomorrow and “warmer” temperatures only arriving by Sunday it was decided to stop the race. We also took into consideration the progress Tom, Pearse, Klaus and Joachim have made in the last 24 hours. They managed to do roughly 17 miles in that period of time.

    Arrowhead 135 Race 2007 Results

    Supercold temperatures at the start of this years Arrowhead, -28 and only one foot competitor, Sarah Lowell who was the first woman to complete the race and in a time of 2 days:07hours:07minutes. The other competitors were bikers.

    “probably the most epic experience of my life,” she said  after the race.

    Yukon Arctic Ultra 2007 Race Update

    With the marathon and the 100 mile race finished, interest lies now with the 300 and 460 mile races.

    Italians Stefano Miglietti  and Enrico Ghidoni have been running together since the start and had a 16 hour lead over Dave Berridge from England on leaving Braeburn.

    In the 460 mile race, Another Englishman, Andy Heading, had an 6 hour lead over Joachim Rintsch who is also 2 hours clear of Tom Wolter-Roessler from Germany. Allen Pearse and Klaus Schweinberger, the other runners left Braeburn together.

    Yukon Arctic Ultra - December 2006 Newsletter

    Hello everyone,
    Race Roster Update
    New on the 100 mile race roster is Heike Pawzik from Germany. Heike is an experienced athlete who has run an incredible 156 ultras and 67 marathons so far! The cold will be new to her, though.
    Frank Janssens from Vancouver is back to have a go at the 300 miles. In 2006 he had to quit due to injury.
    Pearse Allen is the latest addition to a great field of athletes. Pearse is from Dublin and already finished the 300 miles in 2005. Well, actually he had signed up for the 100 miles at the time. However, he enjoyed it so much that he decided to continue. Now he is back to take on the challenge of our 460 mile distance. (more…)
