2007 COASTAL CHALLENGE EXPEDITION RUN ANNOUNCES UPDATES
“Route of Fire” Competition Scheduled in Costa Rica from February 3-7, 2007; Additional ‘Adventure Run’ and ‘Guest Tour’ Categories Offered
TRUMBULL, CONN. — The Coastal Challenge, the World’s Expedition RunTM, today unveiled a number of enhancements that will further establish the event as one of the world’s most exciting and challenging multi-day, off-road running competitions. Set in exotic Costa Rica, the 2007 race follows 230 km of rugged terrain to remote areas of the country, and also includes a variety of new features, such as additional categories for participants and guests. Race organizers, back from a recent course scout, have posted updated information at www.thecoastalchallenge.com.
For the first time since its launch in 2005, The Coastal Challenge is offering three categories of participation in the six-day event: the Expedition Run (230-km course), Adventure Run (115-km course), and the Guest Adventure Tours (six-day, packaged adventure tours such as hiking, rafting, horseback riding, and more). Previous competitions only featured the Expedition Run. Subject: A new Moab marathon
I know it’s a long way off but I wanted to let you all know about one of our new races for next year. We’re holding a Desert RATS marathon June 23rd. The marathon will be run in conjunction with our 6-day stage race. The last day of the stage race is a marathon and we’ll be opening it up for 75 runners to race alongside the stage racers. With some of the most beautiful scenery in the country racers will experience pavement,heat, possibly cold (at elevation), technical trail, 4000 feet of elevation-gain. You’ll experience it all in 26 miles. Registration opens Jan. 1.

All three runs will be held within the Sylamore Ranger District, and are 90% on single-track trails including the Sylamore trail, Sylamore horse trails, and the Syllamo mountain bike trails.
THE PROGRAM
Day One - 50K
50k, This run will take place on the Sylamore trail , including the new section of trail. Full aid stations will be provided at approximately 4-6 miles apart.
Day Two - 50 Miles
50 miles,“This is where the fun startsâ€.
This run will be held on the Syllamo mountain bike trail that winds, climbs and descends through the beautiful Sylamore Ranger District including several creek crossings, past scenic vistas and bluffs and through dense forest. Full aid stations will be located approximately 4-6 miles apart.
Day Three - 20K
20k, This run will take place on the Syllamo mountain bike trails. Aid will be provided at the halfway point.
