The Wild Coast Ultra 2009 Challenge

The Wild Coast Ultra 2009 Challenge is a staged race from Port St Johns to East London – a 270k, 6 day run.
From the Daily Dispatch:
“THE past two days have tested the courage of 15 athletes from around South Africa during the gruelling six-day 270km ultra-marathon from Port St Johns to Nahoon Beach.
Each day has ended well after dark for the runners, except for the two leaders, Steve Black and André Erasmus, and the heat, blisters, bruised feet and serious cases of bad navigation have taken their toll on many of the athletes.
Up front, Erasmus is being pressured again by Black as he was at the Big Bafer, the 100km Amatola Trail Run.
East London’s Kim van Kets, who starts off another year of mega-trails after a busy 2008, is currently the leading woman and is in joint third place with Simon Cooke.
