Athens Ultra Festival 2011 – 1000 km winner & 7 Day Race Results

The Athens Ultra Festival 7 Day race 2011 results are available as the multiday race has just concluded. Top UK ultrarunner Sharon Gayter set a new UK 6 day record by running 750 km, surpassing the previous record of 730.6 km.

In the 72 hour event Ming Sheng Wu (TPE) finished with 408.708 km. Shu Min Huang was the leading lady, second overall with 392 km. Second place lady was Elvira Janosi, RD of the Palic 24 hour.

In the 48 hour event Japan’s female ultrarunning star Mami Kudo was clear overall winner with 368,687 km. Second was Konstantinos Anagnostou (GRE) with 321 km.

Another Japanese great won the 24 hour event. Sumie Inagaki covered 209 km well ahead of second place Dimitrios Besiris with 179 km.

The 1000 km race was won today by Norwegian Sjavic Trond who finished in 7d 6h 28′ 24. German multiday specialist Wolfgang Schwerk has less than 60 km to go. In the womens race Australian Sarah Barnett leads with 775 km and second place Martina Haussman is hanging in with 754 km.
