The excitement of the 24,48 & 72 hour races has blown away with the gales as the sun drops below the horizon tonight here in Athens, a falling curtain that will rise again tomorrow as the 1000 mile runners endure the final days of their journey across a new world.
Wolfgang Schwerk crossed the line in 11 days, 23 hours, 18 min, 32 sec to win the 1000 mile World Cup.
