Arizona 6 Day Race Updates After 104 Hours

    Posted on the Ultralist:
Mark Dorion kindly sent this report to the Ultralist:

    Date: Thu, 5 Apr 2007 23:15:07 -0600
    From: “Dorion, Mark G”
Subject: AZ 6 Day Race/ 104 Hour Mark

    Arizona 6 Day Standings after 104 Hours (8 p.m. M.S.T. Thursday evening):

    1. John Radich, 51, CA 285 mi.
    2. John McGuire, 49, CO 219 mi.
    3. Ron Vertrees, 69, CA 174 mi.
    4. Bill Dickey, __ 145 mi.
    5. Dave Upah, __ 142 mi.

(several drop-outs, and local youngsters running about 10-18 miles/ day before and after school and work)

    ALSO:
–Race director Gary Cross– 105 mi.
–10-year old Arizona Cross– 56 mi.

    QUESTION:
***I am wondering how many ultralist members–
a.) Have ever run in a 6 day or similar event
b.) Have any interest in ever doing so
c.) Enjoy reading about such events

I ask the above because I have received ENTHUSIASTIC responses to my AZ 6 Day posts from ultrarunners in Mexico, Europe, Asia– but NOTHING from any US runners.
Probably the MOST international race of the year (NY Self-Transcendence 6 and 10 days) in the US is coming up in New York City the first week of May, with runners from over 10 different countries already entered.

Best wishes to ultrarunners and ultrarunning fans everywhere,

    Mark D
